Dr. Oliver Stefani is a researcher specializing in lighting science, chronobiology, and integrative lighting. His interdisciplinary work explores how the spectral, spatial, and temporal characteristics of light influence human physiology, behavior, and well-being.

At the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), he conducts applied and translational research at the intersection of radiometry and photobiology, focusing on the development and evaluation of innovative lighting concepts and light dosimeters that harmonize visual and non-visual effects of light.

Before joining HSLU, Dr. Stefani worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Chronobiology at the University Psychiatric Clinics Basel (UPK Basel), where he contributed to experimental studies on light exposure, circadian regulation, and melatonin dynamics.

Through his company Chronolight, he accompanied the implementation and scientific evaluation of a new lighting concept for the Swiss air traffic control centre Skyguide in Dübendorf, integrating chronobiological insights into workplace lighting.

His work aims to bridge laboratory findings and real-world applications, promoting healthier, more sustainable luminous environments.
